According to Deloitte, climate inaction could cost the global economy $178 trillion over the next 50 years. On the other hand, decisive climate action could add $43 trillion in growth.
Former Vice President Al Gore highlighted these statistics during his keynote at the SF Climate Week opening ceremony. His speech was a powerful reminder of both the urgent stakes and the inspiring progress being made by organizations and individuals fighting for our planet.
Our team participated in events across the city that brought this vision to life, including running with the Outrun CO₂Club, connecting with climate leaders at Catalyzing Resiliency, attending a film screening for ‘How to change the World,’ the Nature is Capital and other panels exploring solutions for a just transition. As many sessions emphasized — and as Al Gore reminded us — action is the solution.
Gore quoted Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.: “If you can’t fly, run. If you can’t run, walk. If you can’t walk, crawl. But by all means, keep moving.”
This week, we saw 25,000 participants moving for climate action. At Sonen Capital, we’re moving, too: creating customized solutions for asset owners and allocating capital to managers, solutions, and innovations driving climate impact. Let’s keep moving!
